About Casey McCabe

I enjoy problem solving and collaborating with colleagues. I am a self starter with a passion for facts, accurate reporting, and a love of the written word.

I have held positions across media platforms including time spent producing television, conducting research for long form documentaries, hosting a podcast, and writing for multiple digital platforms. My variety of experience is a valuable asset when it comes to approaching a story with an open mind and assessing the interests of both the subject and the viewer.

I find value and satisfaction in both serving my community and revealing the unseen. Whether helping a burgeoning artist find their audience, or exposing a danger to the community, I jump at any opportunity to both learn and teach.

I have participated in cross platform collaborations and have experience using social media to promote digital content. Beyond reporting and production, I have limited experience with the business side of journalism such as: executing underwriting deals, tracking expenses, and managing payroll.

My Story

Born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, I found my passion for storytelling at a young age. I began honing my skills at WORT FM Community Radio as an evening news reporter during my time in high school. I then moved to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota.

My drive to tell stories that mattered continued during my tenure as a student. From becoming the Managing Editor and Host of Radio K's Real College Podcast, to the Vice President of the Minnesota Republic, I found many opportunities on campus to do what I love.

I also enjoyed opportunities off campus, with my time at Big Radio and Country Evolution broadening my cultural horizons.

Once my time in college came to a close I headed to the west coast to join the talented team at KGW News in Portland, Oregon. During my time at KGW I produced multiple on air shows, with my longest stint as a producer on the morning show. I was also able to write stories for the digital content team and field produce on an occasion. My crowing achievement during my time in Portland was my work as a data and research journalist on KGW's Sick Medicine documentary.

I have a passion for climate justice as well as reporting on music, art, and its impacts on our culture.

As a multimedia journalist I specialize in audio production, but also have skills producing video, taking still images, and both writing and editing copy.

Following a bittersweet farewell from KGW in the summer of 2024 I embarked on a two month solo roadtrip around the United States.
